The Institute for Wind Energy Systems was present with two presentations. With these, IWES could increase the international visibility of its research.

From November 3-5, 2021, the annual PhD seminar of the European Academy of Wind Energy (EAWE) was hosted by the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Porto. The seminar is an EAWE supported event organised by PhD students for PhD students and serves to promote scientific exchange as well as the formation and cultivation of networks. For the majority of the about 110 researchers it was the first participation at a scientific conference.

The IWES was represented by Julia Gebauer and Abdul Wasay Khan. Abdul Wasay Khan presented his work on data-based computational modelling of short fibre-reinforced adhesives in rotor blades.  In her presentation on "Geometrically non-linear cross-sectional deformations of large rotor blades", Julia Gebauer addressed the relevance of the topic and showed initial simulation results.

Julia Gebauer and Abdul Wasay Khan did an excellent job in representing IWES and making first contacts in the wind energy community. They helped to increase the international visibility of IWES. We look forward to their future conference contributions.
