Climate Protection. Energy Transformation. Wind Energy Systems.

Climate protection and the transformation of the energy sector are two of the major challenges of today. The Institute for Wind Energy Systems is committed to these challenges. We believe in a worthwhile future without exploiting fossile energy ressources. We train highly specialised engineers. And we conduct research for a CO2-neutral future.

The Institute for Wind Energy Systems has the mission of promoting the wind energy sector and the energy transformation. We do that by combining technology development and methodical expertise. Looking at single components of a wind turbine is outdated. Today, an integral approach with a view on the entire system becomes more and more important. Even though wind turbine components such as rotor blades or support structures still have a huge optimization potential – we must not lose track of the wind turbine as a system of components. Our staff members bring in the respective system competences – in both our research projects and the academic education of young engineers.
