Profile of the Institute
Engineers in the wind energy sector face a great number of challenges. The rapid growth of the industries involved creates a demand for massive innovation and creativity. The close links between different engineering disciplines, as well as non-technological sectors, requires interdisciplinary working methods and corresponding education.
The Institute of Wind Energy Systems (IWES) at the faculty of civil engineering and geodetic sciences contributes to linking the existing skills at the Leibniz Universität Hannover. Research topics are being worked on in close cooperation with institutes from different faculties. The intense cooperation in terms of personnel and content with the Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy and Energy System Technology guarantees research in step with state-of-the-art practice.
Within the masters program Wind Energy Enginneering, IWES' staff members are responsible for fundamental lecture series such as e.g. Wind Energy Technology.
